Recently, Massachusetts Hockey hosted our 2018 Annual Awards and Hall of Fame evening, in conjunction with our Annual Meeting weekend on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Hotel 1620 Plymouth Harbor.
The Master of Ceremonies included our own Hall of Fame member and Hockey East Commissioner Joe Bertagna.
Saturday evening began with a cocktail hour before the almost 300 guests were seated for the festivities.
The evening began with the following receiving the following awards: Charles 'Chip' Fagan for the Milt Kaufman Award, Mark Lissner for the Duke Kumpel Special Achievement Award, Jean Ann Nigro for the Massachusetts Hockey President's Award, Dr. Ann McKee for the Dr. Alan Ashare Safety Award and Karen McCabe for the Ron & Jo DiFilippo Registrar Award.
Then, after dinner was served, our Hall of Fame Inductees were introduced and then sat down for a Question and Answer session.
This year's inductees include: Arthur J. Chisholm (Player), Joseph A. Curnane II (Builder), Daniel Esdale (Builder), Joe Giuliotti (All-Around) and William F. Hanson (Coach). The posthumous inductees for this year will be Leland “Hago” Harrington, Francis “Austie” Harding and Lorne “Tippy” Johnson.
Those in attendance include but are not limited to: USA Hockey President Jim Smith; Milton Academy Hockey Coach Paul Cannata; Northeastern Men's Ice Hockey Coach Jim Madigan; NHL Stanley Cup Winner Chris Nilan; Retired NHL Ice Hockey Official and Hall of Fame Member Paul Stewart; Catholic Memorial Coach Larry Rooney; New England District Coach in Chief and St. Anselm Men's Ice Hockey Coach Larry Rocha.
