We’d like to invite you to partner in an education program designed to help us better protect athletes from concussions. Youth athletes aren’t always honest about concussions because they fear that their teammates and coach will not support themTeam Up Speak Up can change that culture. Join us and send a message to parents, your team and community that you’re serious about concussion safety.

Team Up Speak Up Day asks coaches, along with their captains and medical team, to give a short speech to their team making these 3 simple points:

  1. We’re a team and we look out for each other.
  2. A teammate with a concussion needs your help
  3. It is your responsibility to Speak Up to a coach or athletic trainer if you think a teammate might have a concussion

The inaugural Team Up Speak Up Day in 2016 was an incredible success. More than 150 organizations signed on, representing over 3 million athletes. National governing bodies like the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), USA Hockey, USA Football, and USA Rugby were among our inaugural supporters. Ambassadors for Team Up Speak Up Day came from leaders in sport like Hockey Hall of Famers Eric Lindros and Angela Ruggiero, NFL veterans Ryan Fitzpatrick and Eric Winston, Olympians Cindy Parlow Cone and AJ Griswold, and college coaches Tim Murphy and Katey Stone.

Participating is easy, and is detailed in the “How to Participate” section of the website.

Our goal is to reach all 44 million youth athletes playing team sports in America with this message every year, so your participation will make a big difference!
