Massachusetts Hockey Loses Director at Large and Hall of Fame Member Gordon Blaney

Former District Director, Executive Board Member & Rules Committee Chair

Gordon H. Blaney, (77) of Quincy, Mass. has passed away.

At the time of his passing, Gordon was serving Massachusetts Hockey as a Director at Large. In the past, he has served as a District Director, Executive Board Member, Rules Committee Chair, Coordinator of the Massachusetts Hockey Annual Guide and an active participant on numerous committees including Player Development.

In 2008, Gordon was recognized for his contributions with an induction into the Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame.

He has served as Commissioner and Vice President for Quincy Youth Hockey. Gordon coached various boy’s and girls’ ice hockey teams, including the 1986 Pee Wee (12U) State Champions.

Gordon adored his family and friends, especially his late wife Donna. He was very involved in the community, including as a member of the IBEW Local 103.

Gordon worked as an electrician for many years at Rotman Electric. He was a smart, strong and dedicated man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of the late Donna M. (Palmieri). Loving father of Keith Blaney and his wife Barbara of Braintree, Deborah Hilton and her husband Brian of Brockton, and Janice Diorio and her husband Joseph of Quincy. Cherished brother of Richard Blaney of Easton, Gina Blaney of NH, and the late Marylou Blaney. Loving "Papa" of Allison Lemack and Timothy Lemack, Nicholas, Mark, and Kaitlyn Blaney, Zackary Hilton, and Dominic Diorio. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
