Our national championship was a complete team effort. There were goals by 9 different girls and assists by 11 different girls: 14 out of 18 skaters had a goal or an assist over the course of the tournament. We had two goalies who split time in each game and our defense held strong. The team also showed remarkable resilience, coming from behind in both semi-final and final games to win in overtime.
There is also a great Massachusetts story - our semi-final game against the KV Ravens was a tough match-up against the Michigan state champions that lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes and was finally won in the second overtime. The entire Cape Cod Storm team and coaching staff came to the game and cheered "Let's go Assabet!" and "Let's go 'Chusetts!" and lined the tunnel each time the ice was resurfaced. It was a huge boost to our girls since the Michigan team was local and had a lot of boisterous fans. We sincerely appreciated the support and encouragement of our other Massachusetts team.
This was the 50th national championship for the Assabet program. We appreciate the support of Mass Hockey and USA Hockey!

Also congrats to our U19 Tier II East Coast Wizards who fell to the Portland Pirates (ME) 2-1 in the championship game in Lansing MI on Monday
After a hard fought National Semifinal game between the East Coast Wizards and New England Falcons the two Massachusetts Girls teams came together for a group photo. Many of these girls have competed against each other for 5+ years and have always had great games. Through the years there have been some great friendships formed between players, coaches and parents
