Happy New Year, hockey fans. As we all know, hockey seasons barely pause to mark the occasion of a new calendar year, but that doesn't mean some of our favorite hockey players can't make a resolution – with one notable exception you can read below. We caught up with some of this state's most famous hockey names – U.S. National Team members and U.S. Hockey Hall of Famers, young stars and veteran coaches, included – and asked for their thoughts as we turned the page to 2015.

Charlie Coyle (Minnesota Wild forward | East Weymouth)

On the ice, I want to be a more consistent player, bringing all parts of my game every night. Off the ice, I want to learn how to cook and stop eating out every night for dinner. I’m proud to be a former Mass Hockey player and wish everyone back home a great new year!

Jack Eichel (Boston University forward | North Chelmsford)

In 2015, I’m aspiring to help my team at Boston University win the Beanpot, Hockey East and NCAA hockey championships.

Jeremy Roenick (U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer, NBC Sports broadcaster | Boston)

I don't make resolutions. I don't need a new year to try to make myself better. That should be a daily thing.

Jerry York (Boston College head coach | Watertown)

Eat less carbs. Lift weights three times a week, yoga also three times. Attend daily mass and recruit more Johnny Gaudreaus :)

Joe Bertagna (Hockey East commissioner | Arlington)

Mine is the same every year. I want to be 20 pounds lighter and stay in goal for another year. In all seriousness, my wife and I have three teenage kids, so all my primary thoughts are about them. And then I want to lose my 20 pounds.

Keith Yandle (Arizona Coyotes defenseman | Boston)

I'd say my New Year's resolution for on the ice is to score more goals. I think it would help the team win some more games, and it's always fun to score. My New Year's resolution off the ice is to be a better communicator with my phone. I feel like I'm not very good at texting people back and calling people back, so I want to be a better communicator in 2015.

Jim Craig (1980 Miracle on Ice goaltender / North Easton)

Stay in shape, enjoy my family and friends, and continue to mentor and be mentored.

Kevin Kavanagh (Executive Director, Mass Hockey | Duxbury)

If I had a New Year’s resolution, it would be to hope that our parents in Massachusetts continue to support their kids on and off the ice by keeping hockey fun and not making it a chore for them.

My New Year's resolution is to spend less time on my phone.

Noah Hanifin (Boston College defenseman | Norwood)

I’ve always wanted to win a Beanpot championship my whole life, and it’s great to have a chance to do that. I also want to focus on skating as hard as I can to the bench when I change.
