Duxbury, Mass. – Massachusetts Hockey, the Boston Bruins, SCORE Boston, The National Hockey League (NHL) and Hockey East have announced the “Pass the Torch Showcase,” a youth hockey event to celebrate 100 years of Bruins hockey and encourage inclusivity in the sport.
WHAT: Players will come together to participate in a showcase featuring twelve teams, each consisting of four players and a goalie. Teams will include participants from various Northeast hockey programs including adaptive players and players who participate in programs that are part of the National Hockey League's "Hockey is for Everyone” initiative, ages 10-12. Following the showcase, skaters will attend the Boston Bruins Centennial Game against the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 1, 2024.
WHEN: Saturday, November 30, 2024, 12-4:30 p.m.
WHERE: Matthews Arena, Northeastern University (238-262 St Botolph St, Boston, MA 02115)
WHY: The Pass the Torch showcase will honor the Northeastern University Men’s Ice Hockey program and its commitment to recruiting and training diverse athletes such as Jayden Struble (Montreal Canadiens defenseman), Jordan Harris (Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman) and Jackson Dorrington (current Northeastern Captain and relative of Al Dorrington, the first black player to sign a NHL contract).
