Massachusetts Hockey is saddened to share the news that Joan Smith passed away on March 19, 2024. 

Joan was born on August 29, 1951 in New York City and moved to Cape Cod as a young child and grew up in South Yarmouth. She went to D-Y High School and met her loving husband Alfred Smith of 53 years. 

Joan volunteered with Massachusetts Hockey for over 40 years serving district 5 as a Registrar and a Director. Joan loved the sport of hockey, watching her children play, then watching her grandchildren play, and going to her son’s college games that he was coaching, were some of her favorite things to do.
