Duxbury, MA - Massachusetts Hockey is celebrating 50 years of being the governing body of youth hockey in the state of Massachusetts. In the 2023-24 season, Massachusetts Hockey is proud to be the home of more than 190 programs and over 44,000 youth hockey players.
Throughout the year, Massachusetts Hockey will be featuring several initiatives to celebrate this milestone.
To kick off the first era of Mass Hockey, 1874-1984, pillars of the Mass Hockey community, Ron DiFillippo, long time Mass Hockey Registrar, and Ron DeGregorio, former USA Hockey President and New England Registrar will be sharing their memories of the founding of Mass Hockey and looking back at how Mass Hockey has evolved over the past 50 years.
In addition to Massachusetts Hockey’s 50th Anniversary, there are some other milestones to be celebrated:
President of Massachusetts Hockey, Stephen Palmacci looks back at the start of Mass Hockey and how far it has come. “The Amateur Hockey Association Commonwealth of Massachusetts started 50 years ago with 6 officers, 32 directors and 41 programs. We changed our name Massachusetts Hockey about 30 years ago and currently have 16 officers, 60 directors and over 190 programs, over 2,700 teams, 44,000 players and 6,600 coaches. We have come a long way in serving the youth in our state in those 50 years. It’s an honor and a pleasure to be serving as president on Mass Hockey. We hope to see continued growth in our sport.”
