A look back at some of the most notable moments of a season in the life of Mass Hockey

While many had penciled this May and into June still as a hockey season for the Bruins, the 2022-23 season is officially in the books across the state. As good a time as ever, we look back at some of the most notable moments of a season in the life of Mass Hockey ... Congratulations were in order this past June, when in Denver, USA Hockey honored four Mass Hockey notables for their contributions to the game of hockey. A few days later, the spotlight narrowed a bit to the Bay State, focusing on the dedicated volunteers of the game at Massachusetts Hockey’s Annual Congress. And, yes, Dr. Alan Ashare took a star turn at both. Near the end of June, a couple of Mass natives, Kip St. Germaine and Joe Howard, were recognized as part of the historic team achievement that was Team USA's first-ever Paralympic gold medal. And, if it's July, it's the NHL Entry Draft, where nine of Mass Hockey's pro prospects heard their names called over the course of the weekend.

To read more about each, check out this Nine Players from Massachusetts Chosen in the 2022 NHL Draft feature from mahockey.org

Over the summer, we caught up with Millis native Matt Boldy, who went on to score 31 goals in 81 regular season games with the Minnesota Wild this past season. We also checked in with Boston College legend Greg Brown, who talked about returning to the Heights as the Eagles head coach and what it means to take over the program about which he has cared so deeply for so long.

Turning into the fall, we talked to Boston native Olivia Soares about Building Character On and Off the Ice, Falmouth's Paul Moore about What Makes a Kid Coachable and to NESN studio analyst (and hockey dad/coach) Billy Jaffe about some Tips for New Hockey Parents

We were also shining a light on sportsmanship.

In a November highlight, we looked to Bruins forward and Weymouth native Charlie Coyle for Shooting Tips to Score More Goals. Hint: It's to shoot more.

Soon after, Mass Hockey had a little more teaming up to do with the Bruins. December also set up as a good time to look back at the highlights from late-November's Massachusetts State Hockey Championships presented by Sparx. Definitely worth the 38 seconds! More team accolades, too! And in individual action, we have this list of names to keep an eye on for the future. For the players listed above, they could see an aspirational future in the form of Matty Beniers and Kevin Hayes as a pair of Mass-born NHL All-Stars this past January. With January also came the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, where Mass natives Samantha Taber and Lucia DiGirolamo represented Team USA. Both Taber and DiGirolamo scored during the course of the tournament, too ... Meanwhile, at the 2023 BioSteel All-American game, Will Smith went on to earn Player of the Game honors with a couple of goals (one of which you can watch below) and an assist. Unfortunately, there was also sad news to share ... By February, the tradition that is the Beanbot, per usual, featured quite a Mass Hockey influence. Hear, hear ... Speaking of USA Hockey, Mass Hockey would also send more than 20 teams to Nationals. And congratulations would be in order for ... With April comes tournament season, and Mass Hockey players made an impact here, too. To kick off this month, one of the highlights of the USA Hockey calendar, the Level 5 Coaching Symposium, arrived on Cape Cod. What a season, and we can't wait to see what's in store for 2023-24!
