We sure missed hockey--and it was good to be back

As the Bruins have made their way into their second season, we take a look back at the 2020-21 season in Mass Hockey highlights. Like the season before this, the view can only be seen through the lens of an unrelenting pandemic. Still, a year full that carried with it so many of emotions began with an offseason look ahead to a return to the rinks. We missed hockey, too . . .

Among the many shifts in perspective that would take place throughout the season, Mass Hockey would find ways all season long to leverage virtual assets to connect with constituents …

Still not through June, Mass Hockey made an offseason impact on USA Hockey’s annual awards …

One of our favorite features of the year also caught the eye of USA Hockey …
Kicking off July, we shined a light on sportsmanship …

Congratulations were in order for Boston College head coaching legend Jerry York …

There were also highlight reel plays throughout the season, including this rush from MK O’Brien against Little Caesars …

Sadly, in October, we lost an esteemed member of the Mass Hockey family in Wes Tuttle …

Typically a summer event, the season-shifted NHL Entry Draft featured a number of Massachusetts angles …

Not long after the next generation of Mass Hockey’s elite players heard their names called at the NHL Entry Draft, two-time Olympic captain Meghan Duggan officially called it a career …

Coincidentally, Girls Hockey Weekend followed long afterward …

Partnering with the Bruins in November, Mass Hockey players could tune in to a player development discussion with Providence Bruins players and USA Hockey’s Roger Grillo …

And in December, Grillo was joined by some of the most notable members of the Bruins’ braintrust …

Just as with the NHL Entry Draft in October, December’s IIHF World Junior Championship had a certain #MassProud flavor …
Throughout this season, Mass Hockey has turned its attention to highlighting diversity in hockey, including Holliston’s Greg Mauldin and Waltham’s Karly Aguirre …

And how about that Matt Boldy...

It’s not every day that a couple of young players from the same small town wind up in an NHL shootout against each other …

When news of Bishop Feehan’s A.J. Quetta broke, it wasn’t long before the hockey community came out to support the sudden and unfortunate cause …

In support of young players this past February, women’s hockey legend Cammi Granato helped aid the hockey careers of a handful of Mass Hockey girls …

An Olympic teammate of Granato’s and one of the most respected voices in the game, medalist, coach, parent and broadcaster AJ Mleczko has a host of thoughts on supporting both girls and boys throughout the game’s evolution …

Some of our #MassProud NHLers had some impressive feats and highlights this year....

A little over a week after winning the Isobel Cup, the Boston Pride had their own day in Boston …

And speaking of championships...

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR AN AMAZING SEASON!
