State also announces update to Travel Order

Massachusetts Hockey is aware of today’s announcement (click here) regarding the state’s progression to Phase IV, Step 1 and related guidance to the existing Travel Order. We have been in communication with the EEA and anticipate receiving updated guidance specific to youth sports from their office no later than Monday, March 22, 2021.

It is our understanding that the current interstate travel pact (which relates specifically to hockey team-based competitions) remains in effect until March 31st, but that Connecticut has advised that it is withdrawing from the pact effective tomorrow (March 19, 2021).

When we receive updated guidance from the EEA, we will advise on any further impacts to the youth hockey community. Based on our conversations with the EEA and other state agencies, we are optimistic that additional restrictions will be relaxed in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your effort throughout this entire season to help keep the rinks open and the kids on the ice. We are eagerly anticipating a return to a more “normal” youth hockey experience in the near future.
