What is Try Hockey for Free Day?

Try Hockey For Free Days provides youth hockey associations a national platform and opportunity to acquire new players locally. Associations will attract new players for this season as well as capture interested families for the following season. This initiative is a joint-effort between USA Hockey, the National Hockey League & NHL member clubs.

November is an ideal time to bring families into your rink that may not have previously considered youth hockey and are completing their fall sports.

February is a great opportunity to attract new families who are thinking hockey because it’s winter. With a goal of 300 host locations, this event will take place during Hockey Week Across America.

Over 500 locations across 48 states hosted a try hockey for free clinic for kids between the ages of 4 to 9. This event provides local associations the perfect opportunity to introduce new families to youth hockey. Last season over 26,000 kids experienced youth hockey for the first time through USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free Day, presented by Kraft Heinz. Equipment was provided free of charge to every child attending the events, while thousands of USA Hockey-certified coaches provided instruction and encouragement.
