Disabled Hockey Workshop

  • USA Hockey is proud to announce that the 2015 Disabled Hockey Workshop will be October 2-4 in Boston, Mass. New and existing program administrators from around the country will come together for a weekend of educational sessions and networking. The best part is that the workhsop is FREE! Participants will be responsible for transportation and hotel cost, but the actual educational sessions will be covered by the USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Section.

    This year we will again be offering individual sessions for attendees to choose from. Many of hte sessions will be offered multiple times so you can get to the ones you want. Some of the tentative sessions include:

    • Try Hockey Events / Clinics
    • Framework of a Program
    • Effective Communication
    • Supporting Your Program: Volunteers
    • Supporting Your program: Fundraising
    • Promoting Your Program: Public Speaking
    • The Rink: building a relationship with your home rink
    • The Doctor is in: Office Hours with Dr. Laura Dunn

    The workshop will begin at noon on Friday, Oct. 2, and will conclude at noon on Sunday, October 4. In addition, there will be a dinner with keynote speaker on Saturday evening.

    The workhsop will be held at the Matthews Arena on the Northeastern Campus. USA Hockey will securing a room block at the Boston Marriott Cambridge. You will contact the hotel directly to reserver your room under that block. You are NOT required to stay at that hotel and may stay at any hotel you prefer.

    Finally, we will be offering a Disabled Hockey Coaching Clinic on Sunday, Oct. 4, From 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This coaching clinic will also be held at the Matthews Arena. In order for the coaching clinic to take place there must be at least 10 coaches registered by Sept. 11th, otherwise the clinic will be canceled. Be sure to register for the coaching clinic early if you plan on attending.
